Terms of Service
These Terms of Service govern your access to and use of ContextOCR, including our website, API, preview tools, and related services.
Effective date: May 31, 2026
1. Agreement
By creating an account, using the API, uploading files, or otherwise accessing ContextOCR, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
2. The Service
ContextOCR converts documents into AI-ready markdown. Supported inputs include PDFs, images, and .eml email files. The service may include a public preview tool, API keys, usage reporting, and prepaid credits for processed documents and emails.
We may update, improve, or discontinue features at any time. We do not guarantee that every file type, layout, or document will produce perfect output.
3. Accounts and API Keys
You must provide accurate account information and keep access to your sign-in email. You are responsible for activity that occurs under your account and for safeguarding your API keys, credentials, and devices.
Do not share API keys in public repositories, client-side code, or other places where unauthorized parties can access them. You must promptly revoke compromised keys and create replacements.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the service in violation of applicable law or third-party rights.
- Upload content you do not have the right to process, including confidential, personal, or regulated data unless you have lawful authority to do so.
- Attempt to disrupt, probe, reverse engineer, overload, or bypass rate limits, security controls, or billing mechanisms.
- Resell, sublicense, or provide the service to third parties except through your own application or workflow that uses your account credentials.
- Use the service to generate unlawful, harmful, deceptive, or abusive content or workflows.
We may suspend or terminate access if we reasonably believe your use violates these Terms, creates security or legal risk, or harms the service or other users.
5. Uploads, Processing, and Output
You retain ownership of the files and data you submit. You grant us the rights needed to host, process, transmit, and return OCR results for the purpose of operating the service.
Uploaded files and OCR results are processed to deliver your request and are not stored after processing completes, except where limited operational records are needed for security, billing, abuse prevention, or support as described in our Privacy Policy.
OCR output is provided for your use in your applications and workflows. You are responsible for reviewing output before relying on it for legal, financial, medical, compliance, or other high-risk decisions.
6. Credits, Pricing, and Billing
ContextOCR uses page-based prepaid credits unless we state otherwise on the pricing page or in a separate written agreement. Unless stated otherwise, one credit covers one successfully processed OCR page.
New accounts may receive free credits for testing. Paid credits are sold at the prices shown on our website at the time of purchase. Credits are consumed when processing succeeds and are generally non-refundable except where required by law or explicitly stated at purchase.
Free credit grants are intended for genuine evaluation and onboarding. You may not create multiple accounts, automate sign-ups, evade limits, or otherwise abuse free credit grants to avoid paying for usage.
You are responsible for monitoring your balance, request volume, and integration costs. If your account has insufficient credits, OCR requests may be rejected until you add more.
If you confirm account deletion, any remaining prepaid credits on that account are forfeited, are not restored if you sign up again later, and remain subject to the non-refund terms above except where required by law or explicitly stated at purchase.
7. Service Limits
The service is subject to upload size limits, page limits for preview requests, rate limits, timeouts, and other technical constraints described in our API documentation and product pages. You must design your integration to handle these limits and the error responses we return.
8. Intellectual Property
ContextOCR, including its software, branding, documentation, and website content, is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any rights to our trademarks, logos, or service names.
9. Third-Party Services
The service may rely on third-party providers for authentication, payments, email, hosting, abuse prevention, storage, analytics, and OCR processing infrastructure. Your use of those features may also be subject to the terms and policies of those providers.
10. Availability and Support
We aim to keep ContextOCR available and reliable, but the service is provided on an as-available basis. Maintenance, outages, upstream failures, and rate limiting may affect availability or response times.
Support requests can be sent through our contact page. When contacting support about OCR requests, include relevant request IDs and timestamps so we can investigate.
11. Disclaimers
To the fullest extent permitted by law, ContextOCR is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement.
We do not warrant that OCR output will be complete, accurate, uninterrupted, or suitable for any specific use case.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or business opportunity arising from or related to your use of the service.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the service or these Terms will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us for the service in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, or one hundred U.S. dollars.
13. Indemnity
You will defend, indemnify, and hold us harmless from claims, damages, losses, and expenses arising out of your content, your use of the service, or your violation of these Terms or applicable law.
14. Termination
You may stop using the service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, create risk for the service or other users, or where required by law. Sections that by their nature should survive termination will continue to apply.
15. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date above and post the updated Terms on this page. Material changes may also be communicated through the product or by email where appropriate. Continued use after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
16. Contact
